Basic mixing experience
Work with stems and various projects to build workflow skills and improve session organization.
Understand the signal flow of a mixing console: FX routing, group channels, pre/post fader, and how to find musical balance.
Organize your mix: name channels, use colors and numbers to identify sections easily—clarity leads to better mixes.
Learn advanced editing: vocal warping, artifact cleaning, and isolating elements using EQ, dynamic EQ, and linear phase tools.
Explore compressor types: tube, FET, VCA, Vari-MU, optical, multiband—and apply them with different techniques: linear, downward, upward, etc.
Use parallel compression styles like New York, London, and extended types. Learn why attack/release timing makes all the difference.
Master audio treatment: remove clicks/pops, use restoration tools, and understand the line between mixing and post-production. Discover effective Mid/Side processing.
Understand stereo imaging: pan/balance, stereo tools, depth and angle perception—creating space and width in your mix.
Phase and mono compatibility: monitor, correct, and avoid phase issues using specialized tools and meters.
Understand offline vs. online processing, delay compensation, and how high-quality DSP tools affect the final sound.
Learn when saturation enhances or harms your mix. This can make or break your master—handle with care.
Prepare your mix for mastering: export stereo or stem files with proper specs, understanding LUFS, RMS, AES17, and loudness standards.
